Innovative inter-/transcultural education in rural areas

This learning partnership with its participating partner organisations from Spain, Germany and Turkey developed educational programmes based on the innovative concepts of „transculturality“, „diversity“ and intercultural education in order to overcome xenophobia and prejudices and to improve social cohesion and european awareness in neglected rural areas.

The theoretical basis of the learning partnerhip were the concepts of transculturality and diversity which suggest a new conceptualization of culture differing from classical monocultures and the more recent conceptions of interculturality and multiculturality.

Through our project we tried to develop inter- and transcultural competences in the project areas to widen horizons and to reflect on cultural identities in order to offer new opportunities of personal and social development.

Our objectives

- to promote and further develop innovative cultural education through exchange and interaction with experienced organisations working in the field of international, inter- and transcultural education

- to implement and disseminate activities and develop strategies on a local level

- to document and spread effective and innovative activities, methods, settings and theories

- to foster local and international networking

Activities

- personal qualification of the active members (trainers, multipliers, volunteers, ...) within every single organisation

- to collect experiences on trans-/intercultural education in the participating organisations focused on the regional situations, problems, challenges and needs

- to exchange ideas on challenges and oportunities of intercultural education

- to set up and consolidate a local and international network of organisations working in this field

- to implement the results of the learning partnership in the strategy and project planning on a regional, national and international level (workshops for intercultural learning, seminars of civic education or democracy learning, trainings for youth workers and teachers concerning concepts and methods of intercultural learning, international exchanges and trainings)

- to document methods and practical experiences

- to disseminate the output of the learning partnership within the partner organisations and their networks
